E21 of the month february 2010
Dennis' 1979 320/6.
Here's the story of my E21 in a nutshell.
My BMW 320/6 was previously owned by my dad, who bought it from a neighbour in 1999. At that time the engine was broke and the car was in a very bad and rusty stage. My dad rebuilded the engine in 2000. Later that year,
he told me the BMW would mine if I graduated from school. I did so in 2002 and together we rebuilded the E21's bodywork and got it painted.
The E21 is registered to me since 2003 and is also registered on this website.

Restoration
My dad and I started to do the bodywork in 2002, sills, floorpanels, back-end, front-wings, doors and some minor stuff were replaced. At that time the engine was running fine and was equiped with a 4 speed manual transmission. The interior was as standard green one. When all the welding was done, it was ready for a new paintjob.
The finished result back in 2003:
Since then I drove it everywhere with much fun, I even quit smoking so I could afford gas :)
Allways on the lookout for cool updates and nice addittions to the E21, finally scored some good looking black recarros,
Alpina Front spoiler, 15 inch alpina rimms and a 5 speed economics transmission.
Couple of years later on vacation in France, is found those yellow French headlights on a French scrapyard.
Engine upgrade
In 2008 I bought a 323i engine with all the bits attached to it. It also included the complete rear subframe. The first step was to remove the 320/6 rear subframe and replace it with that of the 323i. While doing that, we also fitted the right exhaust pipe. Rear discs instead of the drumms.
Rebuilding the engine took some time, making mistakes while you go :)
All bits that must be replaced were replaced and on a rainy somewhere an may we switched engines. After that it took some time to connect everyting together again.
See the next pics for more details on how it looks.
Getting the engine to run was a bit harder then I thought. Turned out some parts that came with the engine were not that good after all.
I ended up with replacing all electrical bits, engine loom, ignition coil, ignition module, sparkplug cable and even the cable that's attached to the ignition key.
Finally brought it to a friend who's an expert BMW mechanic, he managed to get it running.
Here's the vid of one of the first times the new engine was running:
At the moment the mechanic is still working on the engine, hes almost done and the engine runs really good. Much better than in the video :).
